It's that time of the year again, and I love it. First, a couple of weeks ago, there were more people in the kitchen than usual ... and then that smell. Yum! It was turkey. I know the difference in chicken and turkey and I know that a cooking turkey and all those people in the kitchen mean it's Thanksgiving! I am thankful. I have a great family and so many human friends who love me. I could do without Monkey Face and White Beans (my nicknames for our newest family members, Raise and Mr. Re.) But even those two wild ones are beginning to bother me less. They do add a lot of great energy to the house; that used to be my job. I'm 14 now and I need more rest, so the young ones can do the speed chasing and non-stop playing. My job is to love Blondie and Brown Eyes and all our human friends, and I do it well. I love the Coo-Chee-Coo part of the holidays. I love Coo-Chee-Coo any day, but there is some special about Coo-Chee-Coo in Nov. and Dec.!
Right after Thanksgiving for as long as I can remember comes Christmas! I love that as much as Thanksgiving. I know it is that time because they bring a tree into the house and then they decorate the tree and the whole house. They play Christmas carols, they sing and they dance. Sometime they pick me up and we all dance together. The spirit in my humans is special at this time of the year. I can't wait to see how the little ones handle all this change; this is their first Christmas. They have a lot to learn. My humans put the Christmas tree on a table so they can't get to it. I am well behaved. One time in my youth, I grabbed one of those bright Christmas balls. It fell off the tree and broke, the tree almost came tumbling over on me and I got yelled at. That was enough for me. Now I just look at and admire the beautifully decorated and brightly lighted tree, like you are supposed to.
Happy Holidays to all of you humans out there and to your fur people too!
